At Words of a Feather…
… we write together.
Words of a Feather is a creative writing studio in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia, where writers of all ages discover their voices, share their stories, and connect with a community that believes creativity, imagination, and stories are essential to a meaningful life and the world we want to live in.

The humans behind WOAF
Amy Han (that's me) is the founder of Words of a Feather. I've been leading creative writing workshops and mentoring emerging writers since 2011. I've been writing and imagining stories for as long as I can remember. My mission is to create space where creativity can flourish wherever it wants to grow, and my vision is for writing and storytelling to become as natural and integral to our lives as the act of waking up each morning. Beyond leading Words of a Feather, I'm working on my own projects - a young adult hopepunk novel about connection and hope after collapse, and a memoir about walking the Camino de Santiago and what that journey taught me about stories and self. My most recent novel is The Yard Sale at Story House (2024), a middle-grade fiction story exploring big life changes with a little touch of magic. Read more…
Julie Dickson serves as our Melbourne Studio Coordinator and one of our mentors - she's the warm, organised voice you'll hear from when you reach out to us with questions. She holds a BA in Professional and Creative Writing and is currently completing a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), weaving together her understanding of how stories work with her deepening knowledge of how humans work. Her writing has found homes in WORDLY, SOCIETY19, and the ABC, and in 2022, she was awarded both a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship and a residency at Varuna to support the development of her novels. When she's not holding space for our community, you'll find her lost in someone else's book or working on her own young adult novels, which somehow always end up featuring curious protagonists and at least a sprinkle of romance. @juliedicksonwrites
Susannah Cosham has carried a lifelong fascination with words and the worlds they can build, creating both original fiction and fanfiction since childhood, when she would fill notebooks with careful observations of the people around her in a practice inspired by Harriet the Spy's patient watching. She holds a BA (Honours) in Linguistics and a Master of Information Studies in Children's Librarianship, and she's spent more than seven years working with children in community settings, understanding how stories shape young lives. Susannah claimed victory in NaNoWriMo in both 2021 and 2022, proving to herself what she could do when she committed fully, and these days she's rarely spotted without her writing notebook tucked close, always ready to catch the next idea before it flies away. @susannahcosham
Livia Creț coordinates our sister studio across the world in Romania, where she serves as Lead Mentor for WOAF Romania. She found her way to creative writing after wandering through graphic arts in high school and philosophy at university, eventually completing her MFA in Creative Writing after spending a transformative year immersed in Paris's literary community. She writes magical realism short stories and creative non-fiction with occasional bursts of poetry spilling through, and she's currently deep in the work of drafting her first novel. Her prose and poetry have been published in both Romanian and English literary magazines, and when she's not writing, she's following her passion for Japanese pop culture and confessing that she could happily listen to Miley Cyrus sing for eternity.
