🍂 April Flash Fiction Competition 🍂
As autumn settles in here in the southern hemisphere, an invitation emerges to consider what anchors us. What invisible threads hold us to who we are and where we come from? What stories might we carry that belong to another creature entirely? How much are we our roots - and how much are we the branches, or the leaves it's time to let go?
This month's theme is... ✨ ROOTS ✨
Whether it's the family stories passed down through generations, the place that shaped you before you understood what that meant, the culture or language that lives in your bones, or the gentle act of planting something and choosing to stay - we want to read your tiny stories of origin, belonging, and what it means to be held by something deeper than yourself.
This month's judge is me 🙂 @amyvhan, founder of @woafie.writers.studio. I've been an observer of small things, explorer of ideas, and believer in the power of stories for as long as I can remember - and as someone currently launching A Field of Stars, a memoir about a journey that brought my own deeper stories into question, I'm honoured to return as judge this month. My lovely team member @juliedicksonwrites will be the sole keeper of entries, so I can read all stories anonymously (I do love looking back and noting how many of you are inspired by the competition as a monthly practice!).
