What must we leave behind in order to step into something new?

Can you capture the exact moment when change becomes irreversible?

We're looking for transformative new writings to include in our upcoming anthology, set for publication in December 2025. Take inspiration from our theme and let yourself be carried by the currents of change that shape you and your imagination.

Short stories, flash fiction, poetry, song lyrics, memoir, creative non-fiction, and scripts are all welcome.

  • Submissions are open to all 2025 participants in Words of a Feather and/or Provocative Inklings workshops and events. This includes:

    • Creativity Picnics

    • Story Soirées

    • Flash Fiction competition

    • and other 2025 events/workshops

    If you would like to contribute but you have not yet attended a WOAF/PI event, it's not too late to see what's on!

    This anthology is a collection of writings by participants aged 16+.

    Please make sure you have read the guidelines carefully before submitting your work. Thank you!

  • All writings should be previously unpublished. Authors retain full copyright of their own work.

    Word Limits:

    Short stories, Creative Non-Fiction, Memoir: up to 3000 words

    Poetry: up to 20 lines per poem; up to 3 poems

    Script: up to 1000 words

    Formatting:

    • Please include your full name, city, and a short bio (less than 50 words) in your document.

    • Times, 12pt

    • Indented paragraphs

    • .doc or .docx file

    Editing:

    Please edit your writing to the best of your ability before submitting (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.). We are a small team creating this book mostly out of love! If your writing requires significant editing we will return it to you for editing, or we will have to leave it out.

    We will not accept any writings that do not meet the above guidelines, or which include content we deem harmful to our community and the greater public.
